# companydig

> companydig turns the accounts UK companies file at Companies House into year-by-year profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements, with ratios, group structures, directors, shareholders, key events and administration reasons. Tagged (iXBRL) accounts are read exactly; older scanned PDFs are read by OCR and checked against the accounts' own arithmetic.

Company numbers are 8 characters (e.g. 00445790, SC123456); shorter numeric ones are padded with zeros.
Amounts are in units of the stated currency (not thousands). Costs and liabilities are positive amounts; tax is positive for a charge and negative for a credit; losses are negative.
